New Poll: Cash incentive reward for articles

Since Tacoma is apparently the Florida Marlins of the league (smallest budget by far) and can't spend any money in free agency or scouting or player development, I would certainly be open to some cash incentives.  $1M a year max in incentives isn't going to amount to anything earth shattering and it will hopefully liven up the league a bit.

We could cap the amount of articles.  The 250k for messages was something I just threw there.  We could lower that amount and cap the articles.  30 cap or less.  Right now the messages are capped at 250K and the articles- 30 is unrealistic.  I think maybe 15 would be closer for the real writer.  3-5 for the average writer.  But we can cap build in caps anywhere.  We could even not allow banking and you need to use it or lose it each season.  

Even with these bloated numbers for articles.  The top teams who are getting 1 million is nothing compared to the player expenses.  Tacoma had on 56mil in player expenses and the rest of the league 75-130 mil.  So even if you dropped each team a few mil in player expenses by using incentives its small in the big picture.  I want the reward to not be too small that it won't change anything.  The reward of an active board will benefit the league a lot.

I would be in favor of a small incentive. Regardless of the bonus I also think there should be a cap on the amount a person can earn.

So you could bank the bonus dollars and use them for a big contract.  But For me to remove a 1 year 10 million deal- I would have to (assuming 1 get 1 million for 10 years) save 10 seasons of points and write 300 articles. A multi deal would be even more.  So I think its a nice incentive but not too crazy.  I let everyone digest this and like I said- we could always change the post caps higher or lower.  Change the article amount of even cap the articles at 20,30 or whatever a season.  If people think its too much money.  A Gm can take money from the bank to increase cash or deduct from player expenses.  I can add the balances to our profiles too.

Part 1
I came up with something quick.  Basically I take the average posts of everyone. Compare a GMs posts to that average and come up with bonus 100%.  I cap them at 100% if they are over. The max bonus for posts is 250k (this we can raise or lower the max).  Basically you earn your bonus % out of the max bonus of 250k.  

Part 2
Is a flat 25k per article written.  We have roughly 26-28 regular sims each season.  Assuming someone does an article a sim - at 30 articles you max out 750k.  You can make a little more if you write during the offseason and playoffs.  

We could always cap the amount of articles per team if it becomes a problem.  But I think 30 articles a season is alot.  I know with simming I won't have time to write too much.  If I push it maybe 4 or 5 articles a season.

here's a quick example - The points are accurate to the current posts.  Article part is (I believe) extreme.

As long as for you, Rich, it's not too much monitoring and accounting to read and credit everyone for every article, etc.  On top of everything else you do in the league, I could see how this might be a burden.  But if you don't mind doing it, I think it's a good idea.

I usually read the articles anyways.  I wouldn't be too picky.  It just would need some length- not like a few sentences.  The idea is more to get some things to keep people interested.

I like the idea you mentioned on the other "incentives" poll: reducing player expenses by some very minimal amount (maybe $10k per article) so that maybe, if you're EXTREMELY active over the course of the season, it might amount to being able to absorb the cost of releasing one $480k salary player.

As long as for you, Rich, it's not too much monitoring and accounting to read and credit everyone for every article, etc.  On top of everything else you do in the league, I could see how this might be a burden.  But if you don't mind doing it, I think it's a good idea.

So there isn't much support for editing player ratings.  Which I'm happy about.  Most of us are on the same page.  But I'd like to get the forum more active.  We did a bunch of things in AHIBA- that increased the forum activity some what.  I'm going to throw out a few more ideas with a few parts.  Some people don't like to write so I will also included something for posts.  We did this in AHIBA- but we had to stop when we went to simnation because it was hard to keep track and some GMs where in multiple leagues.  But here your post count in for the NABL only.

We can discuss this but it will be a dollar amount either added to your bank account or reduce player expense.  Maybe we just keep track and you can have a choice to do either.  Reduce player expenses or add it to your cash.

Please vote if you like a cash based incentive.  I'll work on something.  I got an idea but I need to play with the numbers a little.  I want to find a nice enough incentive so people will do it but not too much that its a unfair advantage.  We want to make the league fun and immersive.  A lot (including myself) arent big writers but we all like reading the articles.  It does add something to the league.
