I'm under the cap but well over budget and my scouting and dev budgets will be slashed. I have have a couple of these guys with bloated first years of their contract and agree with these type of contracts being corrected. Not everyone is well under the cap/budget. I do agree that moving those young players off the 40-man rosters is also important.

When I look at the league financial report, there are only two teams over the current cap of $95M. In fact, 17 of 24 teams are more than $20M under the cap.
I've got several players on my team who are making between $4.8M and $5.5M even though they should be at the minimum. However, they're all scheduled to drop down to $480K for the rest of their contracts. Is it unusual? Yes, but it's only one year.
As I've said before, I'm much more concerned, and I think it's a much bigger impact, that I've got 17-year-olds on the 40-man. That truly will have long-term impact on their development. Rich has said that he's going to give players who have never played a game in the majors a minor league deal, and that seems fair.
As for the other guys, making more than they should before dropping it back down, consider it part of the league's mythology, something that had to be done to get the players' union to go along with this unusual backstory and redraft.
I'm going to be something like 50M under the cap once my minor leaguers are sorted. I'm happy to take on salary on my major league team.
yes and no- we wiped out all the service time. Here we are just changing the one year and protecting the young players. A little different. What really f*****d AHIBA was the large profits in the beginning. The large profits was a combo of large cash cap low expenses for years. Basically I'm on;y changes the guys that where at min before the redraft and should still be there. So I think we should be fine.

I'm actually worried about cutting my payroll too low. When I did that in my tryout league, my owner slashed my budget the following season. So like I said, I'm going to keep my youngsters with their high salary this year.

Benoit Forget has 1 year or less of service time and has a $6M contract...this should be $490K....
I disagree, players shouldn't be making $6M in their 2nd year regardless. AHIBA's problem was that everyone started with ZERO service time and everyone went to arbitration at the same time, plus the teams had huge cash reserves. Lots of things lead to the problems in that league financially. Paying a guy $6M in his 2nd MLB season was not one of the problems...
