OOTP 16 Conversion

Hi Guys-

We will be starting spring training tomorrow and I will be converting the league file to ootp 16 next weekend.  I will let everyone know when they can download the new file.  Once the file is available please download it and install.  Then make an export so I know you are ready.  I'm not sure exactly when we will start simming in ootp 16 yet - as some are waiting for the discount. Once the all star game email comes out - we will know more.  But we are very close.  I'm going to try to update the rules in the forum and send out the files for unis/caps/logos after the conversion.

New Features - we had a few brief discussions on some of the new features in ootp 15 and ootp 16 that we will experience.  I'm going to list them here as a summary as we discuss.

1. Owner goals (ootp16) - for now we will turn them on.  You can't be fired so not sure if this will be much of a factor or not.

Owners now give you short- and long-term goals, which may include: winning the World Series within X seasons; fixing a certain weakness on your roster; extending the contract of a star player; and much more. 

2. Improved finance and reporting (ootp16) - hopefully these will make it easier for the GMs to understand the team finances

OOTP16 redesigned large chunks of the team finance system, including new season ticket sales, a team finances screen based on widgets, a new accounting screen, and much more. You'll be better at the money-related part of your job than ever before. On top of that, we have recoded and improved the entire AI related to finances, resulting in a more realistic player contracts and negotiations and more stable long-term team finances.

3. Team Control (ootp15) - we are going to be set as GM and manager.  As GM only - if you hire certain managers , you will not be allowed to change the lineups.  I believe we will not have ML managers since we will have both the GM and MGR roles.  

• New play modes (Manager only, GM only, and GM + Manager), so you can decide exactly how you'd like to run your team
  
  

- Added the possibility to offer a job to a coach without having to fire the one who currently occupies the position

4. Redesigned MGR/Coaching system (OOTP16) - 

One of our favorite new features this year is the redesigned coaching model. Managers and coaches now have certain personalities and special skills or preferences, which will result in plenty of interesting choices. Do you want the manager of your team (if you decide to play GM-only) to be an easy-going stathead, or do you need a veteran hard-nosed manager who is able to cope with the disgruntled players in the clubhouse? Do you want a pitching coach who is an expert in working with power pitchers, or is your staff based more on control artists who could benefit from a coach who knows how to work with finesse pitchers?

5. Redesigned Team Strategy (OOTP16) - 

Setting your team's in-game strategy was a tedious task, so we've completely redesigned that part of the game. Now you can quickly set your preferred strategies and move on to more important matters. 

6. Better Playoff Coverage (ootp16) - 

The race for playoff berths is the most exciting part of every baseball season, so we added a new Pennant Chase screen that displays the strength of the remaining schedule and the chance for each team to make the playoffs. We also improved the related news coverage. Who will win it all?

7. Improved 3D Ball flight (OOTP16) - prob not a factor in our online league

8. Now Rainouts and Doubleheaders (ootp16) - Rainouts with automatic rescheduling, adding the realism that comes with rain-shortened and cancelled games. Is your bullpen strong enough to handle those late-season double-headers?

9. Allstar game fan voting (ootp16) - All-Star Game features with real voting (including online league support)

10. New Stats (ootp15) - WPA (win probability added), BB%, SO%, IR, IRS, IRS% (inherited runners), BABIP for batters


11. GB% (ootp15) - Groundball % rating for pitchers is now more variable and no longer displayed numerically


12. Retired numbers (ootp15) -


13. Salary History (ootp15) - Player history tracks salary year-by-year and notable game performances


14. Customized spring training (ootp15) - 1-6 weeks


15. Spring training invites (ootp15) - invite players within our own organization who are not on the 40 man roster to major league spring training?
