Player Rust

At one point awhile ago Markus posted on the OOTP forums that players get rusty over the off-season and if they are injured for 14+ days.  As best I recall bench players did not get rusty.  

I do tend to try to get everyone some playing time though no idea if it really makes a difference.  I would like to see OOTP actually have players gather some rust from inactivity.

Regarding rehab I try to send anyone out for more than 2-3 weeks on rehab assignments.  My understanding is that supposedly a player is less likely to be re-injured when doing rehab.  If players injured for 14+ days do gather some rust then it would make sense that a rehab assignment would be a good idea to work off that rust.

I've always sent players injured for any length of time on a rehab assignment as it was my understanding they would have rust. I also think I read that players are more likely to get reinjured, so if I have a pitcher coming back I limit his pitch count for the first couple of rehab starts, like in spring training the game limits starters to 4 innings.

I never knew about bench players though, sometimes my 12th man in the bullpen gets very few innings. Bench players are usually used in a game often enough by the AI to rest starters and pinch hit.

So i always new that player rust existed and a player needs to play enough in ST to remove that rust.  I didn't realize rust would also exist during the season (or at least I never thought about it).  I was reading some discussions on it in the OOTP forum and from what people are saying there is also player rust when they sit on the bench and are out with injuries.  I'm going to keep an eye on this and see if I notice anything with my teams and how I run them.
