Whitby, Ontario
At a news conference in Whitby today it was announced that the Battalion have been purchased by American corn farmer Will Stewart from Paulina, IA. Stewart was on hand to make the announcement at in informal press conference held outside near Veterans Field. "I don't know much about baseball. I know corn", he said. "The entire baseball operations will be handled by Whitby resident, and GM John Callahan", added Stewart. "I am extremely excited and proud to be a part of this franchise. It's a dream come true, eh", said the 40yr old GM while sipping a Tim Hortons coffee. The handsome GM describes himself as very aggressive on the trade front, as well as placing high value on developing a strong farm system.
It was not all hugs and kisses at the news conference however. Tacoma Titans owner Doug Riddler's wife was on hand to protest the fact that an American like Stewart was now the owner of a Canadian franchise. She is pictured below being led away by local law enforcement.
She now sits in a Canadian holding cell waiting for Riddler to make his way to Whitby to claim her. When informed of the incident, Callahan's wife said she would have made her way to the press conference to greet her if she would have woken up from her nap in time(pictured below).
It is sure to be an interesting chapter in this franchise history. Stay tuned for more...
