I'm more worried about the lack of any real talent in the minor leagues. I just hired my new scout and I think he will help immensly. Was really happy to find him sitting on the scrap heap. If I can work out some trades and get some prospects into my minor league system I should have plenty of money to fill my major league team with journeymen free agents and at least try and be somewhat competitive until the young guys start to take over. If the trades don't happen then I'll just work around it. I already took a couple financial hits to just get rid of players I didn't want, the biggest being my POS back up catcher that refused to go to the minors.

Re: Hartford Fire Sale
also your scout seems to be really good- so you should be getting fairly decent reports.

Re: Hartford Fire Sale
Hartford does need some love and patience. With most teams at the cap sometimes trading hard to do, but if you can get your salary really low- you be able to build a good minors and pick up some good free agents as free agents. There are usually a few bargains here and there.Snarf054 wrote:This team is quite frankly a total mess. I have a few players who are decent but they have no real use to me. I am giving it until the all star break to see what the big picture is and then I am going to completely tear it down and start fresh. Anyone over 25 is definately on the block. 25 and under I'll take into consideration based on each offer. Looking for young prospects in return preferrably in the 18-20 range will consider 20-22 year olds if they have a couple seasons before they are arbitration eligible and are not going to pitch a fit about chilling in the minors.
Just got done looking at rosters and a lot of you have are cap tight. I would be willing to take players that are underachieving with big contracts to make things work as long as they are free agents or due for arbitration at the end of the season and I can dump them without taking a hit.
