The North Shore Honu have drafted SS Mitchell Wells for a second time. He was originally drafted by North Shore in round 4 of the 2014 Ammy draft. He was picked up in the re draft in round 6. North Shore and Wells are both excited that he has a chance to play his entire career in Hawaii.
Wells is only 27 and has played his entire career with the Honu. Hitting .288 in his 5 seasons there. He has a great glove and can play multiple positions at a gold glove caliber. He already won a gold glove at 2B in 2017. He also can play the outfield well.
The Honu also love his leadership and work ethic. Even at only 27 years old he was one of the leaders on the Honu. Wells was actually the starting CF'der when the Honu won there 2015 championship.
He doesn't have a lot of power but he does hit will to the gaps. He also has some wheels and averages about 25 homers a season. The Honu are hoping he will be able to take advantage of the new Aloha Stadium dimensions which are not friendly to power hitters.
