South Florida Owner Succumbs to Illness, Son Paul Takes Over

Sources close to the family of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] owner Ron Mers reported to the press that he had passed away early today in a South Florida hospital after a short illness. Cause of death was undetermined at this time. Funeral arrangements are pending. "The Mers family is mourning its tragic loss and asks for privacy during this very difficult time," the South Florida Skeeters said in a statement. Persons close to the family and the club said Paul Mers, son of the deceased owner, would replace his father. Young Mers is known as a fiscally controlling and tolerant in personality.
