Spring Training Underway for the Shipwrights

The newly assembled NABL teams are back to baseball, as spring training games began this week following Commissioner James Gordon's controversial and radical Talent Disbursement Draft this off-season. The Maine team features almost entirely new faces; the only 2019 team-member selected by the team was RF Larry Curron.

"It's just business as usual for me," he joked when asked about the difference between this spring and others. "Some guys might have to adjust, but I'm doing just fine."

Maine won three of five spring training games this week, and Curron was a major contributor. He batted .400 with 2 RBI in that stretch. Maine has also seen strong performances from 3B Otis Brown (.308 AVG, 2 HR) and 2B Mark Hopewell (.583 AVG, .667 OBP).

"I think we have a rough idea of what our lineup, rotation and bullpen will look like," said GM Keith McBride. "Hopefully, these spring training games will help us make a few roster decisions, but more importantly, we want to see these guys gel as a team."

Maine's next five spring training games are: @ Savannah, NY, @ Hartford, Missisauga and Key West.
